Montréal Fire Department Pumper 226 responds to emergency calls from newly-rebuilt Station 26 in the Plateau Mont-Royal borough of Montréal, QC.
Station 26 was originally built in 1895 as the town hall of the burgeoning village of De Lorimier. The village was annexed into Montreal in 1909. A fire would ravage the building in 1999. Renovations were made, however the third floor was left condemned. After an inspection in 2015, it was found that the foundation was sinking and that the building was at risk of collapse. Firefighters were relocated to Station 19. After 9 years of demolition and rebuilding, firefighters moved back in in 2024. A majority of the original stone facade was reused. A much-needed local community centre now occupies the third floor.

La caserne 26 a été construite en 1895 pour servir d’hôtel de ville au village florissant de De Lorimier. Le village a été annexé à Montréal en 1909. Un incendie a ravagé le bâtiment en 1999. Des rénovations ont été effectuées, mais le troisième étage est resté condamné. Après une inspection en 2015, on a constaté que les fondations s’affaissaient et que le bâtiment risquait de s’effondrer. Les pompiers ont été transférés à la caserne 19. Après 9 ans de démolition et de reconstruction, les pompiers ont repris leurs quartiers en 2024. La majorité de la façade en pierre d’origine a pu être réutilisée. Le troisième étage est désormais occupé par un centre communautaire local dont le besoin se fait fortement sentir.
