Shortly before 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 4, 2026, Montréal Police were alerted to an assault and battery that had just occurred in La Fontaine Park in the city’s Plateau Mont-Royal borough. Officers from PDQ 38 responded to the call. Within minutes, a suspect was apprehended in the area, but not before a short struggle in which officers had to subdue him on the ground in order to place him in handcuffs. The suspect repeatedly professed his innocence and the officers calmly explained the intent behind their actions in order to gain his compliance. He was cautioned of his rights and a search was conducted of his person and belongings. Because the victim of the alleged assault never came forward to police, the man was subsequently released without any formal charges being filed against him. Peu avant 20 h, le samedi 4 juillet 2026, le service de police de Montréal a appris qu’une voie de fait venait de se produire au parc La Fontaine, dans l’arrondissement du Plateau-Mont-Royal. Des agents du PDQ 38 ont répondu à l’appel. En quelques minutes, un suspect a été maîtrisé dans les environs, malgré une brève résistance qui a obligé les agents à le plaquer au sol pour lui passer les menottes. Le suspect a affirmé à plusieurs reprises son innocence et les agents lui ont calmement expliqué les raisons de leur intervention afin d’obtenir sa coopération. Il a été informé de ses droits et une fouille a été effectuée sur sa personne et ses effets personnels. La victime de l’agression présumée ne s’étant jamais présentée à la police, l’homme a par
la suite été remis en liberté sans qu’aucun chef d’accusation formel ne soit porté contre lui. Aucune autre information n’est disponible concernant cette affaire.
