WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2018 – At approximately 14:15 hours (EST), multiple 911 calls were placed by passerby who stated that flames and smoke were engulfing one of the walls of Vélo iBike, a local bicycle and components shop located at 2127 Rachel Street East in the Plateau-Mont-Royal district of Montréal, QC. SIM (Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal) firefighters from several stations responded to the scene (Pumper 219M and Ladder 419 first due), where they confirmed that flames were showing. Following a quick knockdown, firefighters proceeded to use a chainsaw and a pike pole to pry apart the charred wood, searching for and spraying down any remaining hot spots. The entire incident was concluded in about 45 minutes with no injuries to report.
