Montréal | Montréal Fire Department (SIM) High-Angle Rescue Response to Downtown Elevator Entrapment

TUESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2018 – At approximately 21:00 hours (EST), the SIM (Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal) responded to a luxury apartment building at 1115 Sherbrooke Street West in the Downtown district of Montréal, QC for reports of an elevator entrapment. Along with firefighters from nearby stations, Heavy Rescue trucks staffed by High-Angle Rescue Teams from Stations 13 and 27 were dispatched to the call. The video also shows SIM Division Chief 120, Health & Safety Operations Chief 130, Health & Safety Unit 999 (Firefighters’ Association of Montréal representative) and SPVM Unit 20-5 responding to the scene late into the operation. Firefighters managed to free the trapped individuals after some time and the intervention was finally terminated at 21:40 hours. No injuries were reported.
