Montréal | 5th-Alarm Triplex Fire In Pointe-Saint-Charles – Montréal Fire Department (SIM) On Scene

TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2018 – At approximately 13:00 hours (EST), SIM (Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal) firefighters received a 911 call that a fire had erupted in the basement of a triplex apartment building at 2695 Saint-Charles Street in the Pointe-Saint-Charles district of Montréal, QC. The fire quickly spread to the first floor and upon arrival, firefighters sounded the first, second, third, fourth and fifth alarm as the fire spread upwards to the roof of the building and to the surrounding residential properties. More than 125 firefighters were assigned to the incident and about 20 residents were evacuated from their homes, however none of them suffered injuries, according to a fire department official. The fire was finally put under control at 15:50 hours and was extinguished completely at 22:05 hours. The cause of the fire is unknown, however an investigation is being conducted by the fire department.
