WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2018 – At approximately 15:30 hours (EST), the SPVM (Service de police de la Ville de Montréal), the Sûreté du Québec / Québec Provincial Police, the SIM (Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal), Urgences-Santé EMS and the Pointe-Claire Inspection–Public Security Department received a 911 call that a woman in her 60s had jumped off of the Saint-Jean Boulevard overpass above the Trans-Canada Highway (Autoroute 40) in the Montréal suburb of Pointe-Claire, QC. Police quickly shut down the middle and right lanes of westbound traffic with the help of Transport Québec Highway Surveillance patrollers and shielded the victim with their vehicles. CPR was given at the scene, however efforts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful. The victim’s death was later confirmed as a suicide by a source inside Urgences-Santé. Two of three westbound lanes of Autoroute 40 as well as all southbound lanes of Saint-Jean Boulevard remained closed until approximately 18:20 hours. No further details are known.
