WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2016 – At approximately 4:00 PM, emergency services received a call that a sinkhole had opened up in a tunnel near the Gare d’autocars de Montréal (Montreal Coach Terminal) adjacent to Métro Berri-Uqam in the Quartier Latin area of Montréal. The SIM (Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal), SPVM (Service de police de la Ville de Montréal), U-S (Urgences-Santé), STM (Société de transport de Montréal) Sûreté et Contrôle and Prévention Incendie responded quickly and evacuated the area’s buildings and streets, shutting down Berri Street between Ontario Street and de Maisonneuve Boulevard. After inspection, it was determined that the sinkhole posed no further immediate threats and engineers deemed the structure safe.
Many rarely-seen units can be seen in this video, including several SIM Divisional Chiefs, the SIM Disaster Relief bus, several SIM Technical Rescue Group trucks, as well as SPVM unmarked / stealth vehicles and units from the Sécurité Routière division.
